Solon Rotary Club Installs Officers for 2005-06 Year
Plans underway for upcoming year

As the Solon Centennial Rotary Club nears the first anniversary of its initial meeting, the strength
and depth of involvement in the community is becoming evident.

The officers for 2005-2006 were sworn into office at the July 14, 2005 meeting held at Signature
of Solon Country Club.  Club officers are: Dennis Demshar, President; Peter Balunek, President
Elect; Stacie Beck, Secretary; Marty Barris, Treasurer; David Schmader, Vocational Service
Chair and David Pomeranz, Community Service Chair.

Eileen Regan, Director of the Solon Senior Services was the guest speaker at the meeting. She
described the vibrant programs for seniors. Over 2000 members are actively participating in the
wide array of offerings. Mayor Kevin Patton was in attendance not only as a guest but also an
honorary club member.

Solon Rotary will be hosting a booth at the Solon Home Days to introduce them to the City of
Solon. A raffle is being held in conjunction with the Home Days celebration.
Tickets can be purchased from Rotary Club Members and at the booth during the hours of Home
Days. Club member Andy Karhu is heading up Home Days involvement.

On August 30th, the Club members will be volunteering at the Cleveland Food Bank.

In the early fall, the Solon Rotary is planning a half day program for the business community on
the subject of ethics in business. The program was developed in conjunction with Rotary District
6630 and follows the guidelines of Rotary International’s 4 Way Test. More details will be
available shortly.

Recently, the Club Vocational Committee met with Solon School officials to discuss Rotary’s
volunteer involvement in areas related to vocational needs of students. Also discussed was the
possible establishment of an Interact Club.

With a less than a year under their belt, the Solon Centennial Rotary Club is off to a great start
in being a fine addition to the Solon community.

Interested and prospective members are invited to attend the weekly meetings held every
Thursday at 7:30 AM at Signature of Solon.
